St. Pats

Well I had a fabulous weekend full of fun and things to do! First, on friday after an extremely long day of class, but we finally got our first graded assignments back and i'm doing swell. Then that nigth my roomates and I and also Eric A. were volunteering at the Crossroads Foundations dinner. What this foundation does is help fund the Logan Square area non-profit organizations, foundations, ect. At first I was like why am I doing this on a Friday night, but when I got there I was sooo happy. It was a the Cultural Center in Downtown Chicago, where we had previously gone the first week of the semester for a free concert. So it was in this grand room and there was tons of people I didn't know. When we got there, Alison and I found our roomate Kera and she had a nametag so we procedded to find out where ours were. And we asked a young lady at the table who was giving other guests nametags if she had ours. And she looked at us and was like were volunteers to and we dont' have name tags. Then she told us to find Tricia. It turned out we must have been better volunteers cuase Tricia was super happy to see us and gave us name tags. She then said that she had nothing for us to do until the silent auction was over so we were to go eat and drink.

How fabulous! We of course went and got in line and had amazing indian food, and steak fajitas and wow delicous. We then went to the bar and got some free white wine. Delicsou! We ate and drank and even found some people we knew from organizations we had visited. That was soo cool! All of a sudden it was 7:30 and time to close the auction and wrap up the items for the winners. So by that time Alison and I had helped ourselves into a very feel good state of mind... oops! so here we were wrapping up gifts worth up to 1,000 dollars (some more) and we are definatly over intoxicated. Needless to say everyone was and it was a grand time. The best part was besides it being free. The rude other volunteer was in the back with us as well eating, and not being able to join in the party like we were. bummer. next we were done with that tasked and had finished so quickly Tricia was very happy and impressed, and our work was done. So we preceded to the newly put out dessert bar and ate our full....

It was time to go home and we walked to the train, and realized it was only 10'o'clock. hmmm....draw your own conclusions.

Its Saturday!

So it turns out that St. Patricks day is a pretty big deal is this city of Chicago. So on the Saturday before St. Patricks day there is the northside of Chicago Parade and then the Sunday before St. Patricks day there is the southside of Chicago Parade. So my dad had come for the day and so did the bf of mine! So those two and my sister hopped on the train downtown. It was crazzyyy it looked like the whole city had turned green, though quite exciting. So we ended up not being able to see any of the parade, but we so people in the parade and heard the bands. So we walked to the Field Musuem and didn't even have to wait in line. If you have a library card you can get into all the museums for free once you "check-out" the pass. So we went all around the museum saw the African animals, mammels, even some white -tailed deer (hard to beleive people in chicago have never see one) and also saw a really cool exhibit on Ancient Egypt.

We left the museum and found the bus to take us back to the blue line and walked back to my apartment to get my dad's car to get some FOOD! We ended up going to Lincoln Square to the Brahause, german if you couldn't tell. Where they had original german beers and brats..delicous :) oh oh oh there was also live polka music, to which i refrained from doing in public :) Then my dad took us all home and he went home as well. ahhh i love my daddy!

so now its saturday night, and St. Pattys day preperation is starting. We decide to take a quick nap becuase really why not. All of a sudden it is 8'oclock!! We get up and get dressed in our evening wear and made some delicous rum and coke! It still feels wierd that I can buy alcohol. So we think that we have to catch up to the rest of Chicago. So It turns into chugging rum and cokes and taking nasty cheap vodka shots. Ahh then my bfs frat buddy felix calls us, who just so happens lives in Chicago and is on spring break. So we get a ride from them to another Phi Delts house. We get there and by now I am quite overly intoxicated but feeling great! and we decide we must go to a bar.

we all find cabs and head to the Black Rock Bar which is somewher on Damen. We get there and its a rugby bar i guess, and the Phi Delts had played rugby earlier so they knew some peeps, got us a free pitcher. It was super fun hangin with the boys and cathie. we played bar dice and all bought a pitcher and some shots. Fun times :)

we then became extremely hungry..unusaul. so we hail a can to take us to white castle, hmmm turns out this cabbie is not so with it and takes us to burger king which is closed...so we walk to taco bell which is closed and then we see it taco king! ahhh lol we all go in and get tons of disgusting im sure food, that seemed delicious at the time...yuppers. hmmm swell though and friend felix talks in spanish and i assume in my state that i shoudl do..yeah i shoudlnt' have, but i did get water.

so yes that was super long blog, but that is the jists of my weekend, with missing parts to which is unknown.

Sunday.

Yes, robert and I went to church, which was great and had lots of fun there with my sister. Then went to dinner at Melindas and played with her kids! Fabulous :)

then end

st. patricks day is tomorrow, and you shall find us drinking green beer at 8 am before class!! can't wait
