oops!

so i kinda forgot why my last blog was titled when it rains it pours...well we went to curves to workout..haha yes curves what a crazy expeirence that was..hmmm and then we went the ymca...of course it pours rain but it turned it to quite the expierence and getting drenched..but well it was so much fun puddling jumpin and getting lost...did i mention i always get lost....yeah i really need to buy a compass.

when it rains it pours

wow so yet again it is another weekend and im just writing. wow so i feel like a grown up somtimes on this program. my internship is an 8 hour deal mondays and wednesday and though i love it it is a long day. but yet exciting!! so what happened this week i always have so much that i do during the week and then i have so many stories but then i forget them or think that some of them might be deemed inappropriate for this acm website blog...hmmm.

so let's see this week well internship is so great. my supervisor like is so chil and has this awesome red hair and is in a band. so clearly nothing really in common with me except our love for kids and social issues surronding them. there is another intern that is a grad student that is also there on mondays so its super fun to be with her and talk and work with her and it helps me out to learn so much more. we went on a field trip to the other children's place builiding. it was such a fun day and she told be about all these cool places to go in chicago, and when bars have free food nights and what bars, what spots to stay away from and what places to most definatly go. ahhh good times

then tuesday we had class all day and went to the logan square neighborhood association and got to talk to some cool high school students and what they're doing in their schools. hmmm teusday night what did i do ummm oh yeah it was a homework night, my roomie kera and i had to work on our vocalo project, yeah for class we had to creat a radio interview from our neighborhood interviews from last friday. it was super frustrating and took a long time but it was fun none the less to figure it out.

wednesday rolled around and i had my internship. oh my goodness i completley forgot what to tell you about monday. so after my internship on monday i was waiting for the bus to my sisters house for our dinner date night and the beachelor. when this man came up to me and we like what are you selling!? and i was like..uhhh....uhhh...nothing...and he was like what kinda drugs you like selling...i was sooo SCARED!!! i was like im not selling anything....so yeah then he was like well you look your from the northside, they all come over here to sell drugs...ahh so yeah apparently i look like a drug dealer. then when i got off the bus there were all these african-amercian kids were trying to pretend they were all tough guys around me..i was like boys im way older than you all...lol

ahh so yeah interesting. so yeah wendesday internship and she left at 11 so i just played with the amazing little boys all day. and i fell in love with the one year old..he's gorgeous and i want to hug him all day long.

friday we went to a play called crime against humanity, put on by the Batey Urbano puerto rican and latino center. it was really good, about the unjust puerto ricans are in jail for conspiracy...it was a really powerful play, but i wish i would've had more of a background of the history and what exactly happened. then we all went out for a drink with our professor...the bar had already closed and she got them to open it for us...ah it was super fabulous and fun. then we all came back to the sacramento house and continued..to hang.....lol

tonight were going to the opera and its free!!! ahhh so much more stories i could say but what fun with that be to not have and secret stories for my besties :)

another weekend gone by

it always feels like the weekend goes by way too quicky. you wait all week for friday and then all of a sudden it is sunday. funny eh? anyhoo i had a fabulous weekend, it was soo much fun.

On friday night my roomates and I hosted a dinner party and made tons of spagetti, with alfredo sauce and marinara sauce. yum! we also made spinach salad and garlic bread. Our apartment is so huge we love to have people over. So we had the entire group of Chicago kids over to our place. It was so much fun we ate pasta and drank some wine with dinner and even played this really fun game of charades!!!! soon it turned into quite the party and well its so much fun hanging with all the people on the program and getting to know each other and having fun. then parties get as parties get and ended with going out to the bars..well the two-way bar is approximatly right outside of our window..convienent..lol :) the end to friday night...

then saturday rolled around at well noon, the boys came over and made us all eggs, yummy!! what nice boys they are to walk over to our place for brunch :) and they brought the eggs. which reminds us to go shopping. so after that well its so much fun talking about the night before over breakfast and cleaning up your house..lol

so...oh yeah...my bf came upthis weekend, which was great! :) we ended up going to the John Hancock observatory and then to Nave Pier. Which well i should have thought this through...considering well that it was blustering snow and cold... oh well we had fun even though its cold chicago is still a fun city.

then we ate...at bubba gumps seafood place. you see i dont' like seafood but i know he does..arn't i a good gf?!?!? lol

hmmmm then saturday night we were all going to go to hyde park but we just felt lame and tired so we had a roomate movie night and chilled out...perfect cozy night :)

ahh its sunday now and i have my internship tomorrow and a paper staring me in my face...a reflecting paper..if you like to reflect about your classes this is a perfect program for you! tons of feeling words are asked during class, almost like therapy ...hmmm interesting.

hmmmm i could go into depth about more but will just use that to the imagination and ideas of college students

Almost the Weekend!!

Ahhhh tomorrow is finally friday! It has been quite a week, but sooo good:) My internship was so much fun!! I love it already. I researched pretty much all morning on what types of activites I can use to help creat an activities schedule for the kids. Its hard though cuase they all have limitations that allow them not to be able to do things regular kids would be able to. It breaks my heart that they are so young and have all these "limitations." But the happy news is that I get to play with them and help them that way, and whats even better is that they all should get better and find a wonderful family to adopt them :) So my day there went really fast, and I loved it, i loved playing with the kids!

Of course...i was late. I googled my directions and i only had to take one bus so i wa liek sweeet! so i get off the bus and start walking to my destination and of course it was the wrong direction, so i stop to ask this man on the street and he coudln't really speak english, but numbers are universal when they are written on a page. so he told me to walk the other way cuase the numbers were getting bigger. turns out they wer egetting smaller and the street just ended..so i finally found a convience store and the guy looked at me and pointed. so i follwed the point and foudn my way!!! and i was only 10 minutes late, still kinda embarassing fo rmy first day. though the lady i work for is super cool and laid back.

then last night we went to the underground bar. one of my friends on the program's buddy was perfomring and he has hung out with us a few times so we went to support. im so glad we did, well first of all it was in wrigglyville which is right by wrigglyville, ov=bvisoulsy..lol. and the bar was litterally underground. and the music was amazing.!! loved it, and best part is i got a free demo cd. on the way back we got to the red line and it came pretty quickly and then when we were ready to get on the fullerton bus there was a line. ok no i know there is usually a line for a bus, but seriously it was like 25 people. and i had to stand next to this guy.

we had two speakers today which were good, well i didn't really like the one this morning but the cool part about it was class was in our apartment today so we got free donuts and drank coffee. which obvisouly made the speaker more fun. then this afternoon we went downtown to the girls coalition and had the most amazing gender socialization worshop.loved it.

well tomorrow is finally friday!! and were having a dinner party with everyone on our program and possibly the proffessor and well partay, and possibly going out later in the evenening. ahhh and then saturday the plan is the sears tower....and then musical at night or we usually find something that has somethign going on in the city....usually free!!! or 5 dollars to get in.

well can't wait to update you on my weekend ;)

i got two postcards this week from my besties!!! miss them soo much

random life events

hmmm...so sometimes the darndest things happen to you. anyways this week on ann's life well it is only monday but i had some interesting things happen to me today. well first of all i was super productive and got two reflection papers written, strange that i have to reflect on class, but its easy and i actually kind of like it. but so i got those done and i got my reading done for seminar tomorrow. yeah me. but weird thing #1 that happened talk to my first kiss.

no this really has nothing to do wiht chicago but i feel like it is weird. well my first kiss was while i was modeling at athe state fair the dress i had made through 4-H. and of course i met this cute blonde boy who gave me the butterflies. and we were a couple for a week ...lol anyways so oh yeah funny story i kissed him in a barn on a hay stack next to a cow :) ahhhh those were the days. anyway so havn't talked to him in ages and all of sudden he messengers me...yeah strange i know. out of teh ordinary and we have a pretty long talk...whats even stranger is that i told him how i was studying in chicago this sem and he is from chicago turns out...weirder still he is the son of my sisters professor at north park. i know crazyyyy . well i mean i think it is rahter peculier.

ok weird thing #2 so for CORE we had to write 25 things people wouldn't know about you. which i first thought was hard but hten it was kinda fun. and i wrote a little sentence about skinny dipping in high school. anyways this person...who shall remain unamed..lol i havn't again talked to in ages and messeges me online as well. and we talk and have a great conversation. meanwhile both conversation get about personal life and whats going on and jeez catch me off gaurd..anyways strangeness strangeness...well i think it is strangeness. lol long stories in a blurp.

anyhoo today was great got homework done and had valentines dinner with my sister. we always have spagetti and hear shaped jello. then we played eurche with her roomies and watched the bachelor. oh and went grocery shopping. love having a sister with a car so that i can go to a grocery store further away. ahhhh but tomorrow class all day and then internship all day on wednesdays.

well also question i ask myself, i wonder if i can wash my clothes in the shower with me, laundry is expensive :)

so its been over a week since i have last written...wow i am not so good at this whole blogging thing :) anyways lately i have been so busy. the urban studies program is picking up leaving us less time to go out everynight. so i had my interview for my internship on Wednesday and to my luck it was raining and cold out. so in my head i thought that it was a good idea to still wear my heels, after all i want to look presentabale at my possible internship place. oh and i was interviewing at a organization called "The Children's Place." So after a quick train ride and even quicker bus ride I was two blocks away. hmmmmm.......when i gave the trip a test runon monday it was alot longer, maybe next time i should have not done it during lunch when everyone is on the bus and train....good one ann. so after stalling outside and being almost 45 min early i finally went in at about 20 til 10. and the lady at the desk didnt' even know who i was or why i was there and after pronouncing the lady i was suppose to be meeting with me names wrong they finally told me to wait and that she wasnt't hear yet. And as i waited i saw all of these adorbale kids coming in. but what made me sad is that all of them have some sort of disease, HIV/AIDS or other illness either themselves or with a family memeber.

So the lady finally came and gave me a tour and then we ended up going to another building down the road a ways. And it turned out that this is where I ended up accepting the internship. I am going to be working with Stephanie a social worker, and I am assigned this adorable boy named philip who has bright red hair. I am going to be helping him by playing with him and gicing him tons of attention. he has some sort of diseas or illness but i don't get to know, but he has to always wear a backpack that holds his tubes that are inside of him. i am also goign to be creating play activiteis chart that i am researching to be able to include all of the children at the home, even the immobable ones. as well as working on other things for her and also assiting ehr with play therapy. oh yeah did i mention i figured out what i want to do with my life!!

I want to be a child play therapist.

so then that night we went out and celebrated all of our internships :)

the weekend rolls around and my boyfriend is coming to visit. after class was over at 4. which did i mention we like never have class in a classroom, i beleive our city is our classroom lol :)

so friday night robert was hear and we hung out with all my roomies. and the boys in hyde park were having a party so we were going to go there, but he was tiered from the week and so we stayed in and just got to be with each other, which was nice :)

then saturday we went to the shedd aquariam and ended up having to stand in line for an hour....turns out the shedd is a popular couple and family destination on valentines day. but it was still fabulou san di got to see shark! then we walked around downtown and poked around and it was soo pretty at night. we ended up finding a restrauant called BB's resturant. we had some fabulous drinks, mine blue and was soo yummy...wow wouldn't know there was any alcohol in there. so once we made in back to my place. my roomated kera's finance had came 13 hours on a train to surprise her for valentines day. so the logan square people came over and we all had a little paraty at our place. which was fun ;0

wasn't a huge eventful weekend, but it was nice and it was soo special that my boyfriend could come see me, it was our first valentines day actually in the same country..lol and best part of all he lavilered me for his fraternity.

well turns out i actually have lots of homeowrk to do..all of sudden it sneaks up on you.

oh and last ngiht we all went to the new-futurists show...which is 30 plays in 60 minutes it was pretty good and some of it was funny. then our proffessor took us all out to eat at this 24 hours mexican place..yummmy!!!

ahhhhhh !!!!!!

so wow now i have been in chicago for a week, and im exhausted, but a happy exhausted. i am trying to figure out the train system and that in itself gets me but i have met some interesting people on the train. we were stuck on the train due to a police matter and i met this super cool art student and we chatted and he found all of us completely fabulous hahha. let's see have orientation/class all week from 9 in the morning and then not getting back til 8 or later at night and having so much going out and about during the day is exhausting, but soooooo much fun! and then of course there is going out every night, we have had parties at each of the apartments and we've gone out as well. but that is super fun cuase we are finding the fun places to go! and we are getting to know one another. all thepeople on the program are so cool and we have soo much fun,and tis nice how the guys are all so nice and cute when we go out with them. on saturday night, we went to a play called stupid kids and it turned out that it was a this really great theatre called about face theatre. it was a production about high school kids. i didn't knwo that uptown, where it was is nicknamed boys town, becuase that is where a lot of the homosexual men live. so at the theatre i was one of 5 girls and the rest were men. it was an interesting expieren, but one to cross off my list. im from a small town so that is not someting i am used to being around. but it was fun to go see a produciton. then we came back and people came over about midnight and then we got ready to see what we were going to do and wha tnot...it was a fabulous weekend and i can't wait for this week and where we'll find to go:)

chi-town first day!

so yesterday we moved in and i am on the third floor of a building which just so happens to be the top floor as well, but anyways it is HUGE we have a huge living room with three couches and three easy chairs and like three tables as well. so sunday night we all got back from our meetings around 5 and we hit up the liquor store we found thats right near by our apartment, aconveinent i know lol, and went back and everyone from our program came over and we just drank and had a fabulous time getting to know each other. my roomates are all awesome, and my roomate and i pretty much have almost everything in common, well sorta, either way we get along really well and im so glad that were getting to know each other. but all of my roomies are great and i can't believe how much fun were already having exploring the city and going out and what not. so tody we were given adresses and we just had to figure out wha tbusses and trains to take to get to them...ahh so stressful but my group and i made it, were got lost but i mean my friends from ripon will attest we always get lost, so that was in the back of my mind like yeah..of course were lost..haha so yeah once we found them we talked to some ups man and some other random people..hhaa yeah interesting. chicago is definatly crazy people town, but then we got bunch of mediterranien food that was amazingly delicious and yeah. then we went to the guy's apartament and partied there. were figureing out what we want to do this weekend, and there is some cool bars on milwuakee avenuve and some dance clubs that were prolly going to go to. but jeez we start at 8 in the mornign and don't get back til like 9pm at night...long days and im exhaused..but so excited cuase wow soo much fun is already had that yeah can't wait for the weekend and more classes and yeah!!!
